Carmen Diaz, of Plattekill, formerly of the Bronx, NY, entered into rest on Sunday, March 24, 2019. She was 83.
Daughter of the late Graciliano Rivera and Luz Mercedes Cartegena, she was born on March 28, 1935 in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico.
Carmen, worked as a seamstress and embroider for Mary Girl Party Dresses in Brooklyn, and as a volunteer for the Head Start Program in Plattekill. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, shopping, music, playing 31 and dominoes.
Survivors include a son Antonio Diaz, Jr. of Bayshore, NY; five daughters, Evelyn Diaz of Kingston, Ivette Chiotis of Plattekill, Sharon Figueroa of Poughkeepsie, Miosoti Madera of Ft. Lauderdale FL and Iliana Gida of Newburgh; eleven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, with one on the way; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Anthonio Diaz, Sr., in 2009.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at White, Venuto & Morrill FCS, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh, NY. A Funeral Ceremony will take place on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Modena Rural Cemetery in New Windsor.
