Giovanna Lucia Vivo Archimede of the Town of Newburgh, a retired seamtress at USMA West Point, entered into rest Saturday, January 19, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 95.
Daughter of the late Francesco and Emanuela Ferrara Vivo, she was born November 29, 1917 in Sicily, Italy.
Giovanna when in Italy, taught the art of sewing and catechism in her community and was the "ottima casalinga" to her family. She was passionate about her family and was dedicated to her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving children, Frank Archimede and wife Giacinta, Joseph Archimede both of the Town of Newburgh, Nancy Archimede Gallagher and husband Dale of Syracuse, NY, daughter in law, Michelina Archimede of Florida, grandchildren; Ubaldo Papa, Gianfranco and Jenny Archimede, Thomas Gallagher, John Archimede Jr., Lina Lacy, Anna Maria Mulvey, great grandchildren; Jacklyn and Megan Papa, Lucia Bella Archimede, John Patrick Lacy, Angelina and John Anthony Archimede, great great grandchild, Nicholas and nephew, Francesco Vivo. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Emanuele Archimede and her beloved son John Archimede.
Visitation for family and friends will take place Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd. ( Rte 32), Newburgh, NY.
Funeral Mass will be offered to celebrate Giovana's life, 10 a.m., Thursday, January 24, at the St. Francis of Assisi Church, 145 Benkard Ave., Newburgh, NY. Entombment will follow the Mass at Cedar Hill Mausoleum.
