Gary N. Moulton, age 78, of the Town of Newburgh entered into rest on October 14, 2013. He was the son of the late Edward C. Moulton Sr. and Thelma Drake Moulton.
Gary graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1952 and from Union College in Schenectady, NY in 1956 earning a B.A. in Economics. He was a member of the Union College Glee Club and Choir and the Theta Chapter of Psi Upsilon. Gary then attended Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI earning a commission as a United States Navy officer. Gary served aboard the USS Brough (DE-148) where he participated in Operation Deep Freeze, the American International Geophysical Year expedition in Antarctica, followed by a complete circumnavigation of the globe.
Following his service in the United States Navy, he began a lifelong career in finance at Standard & Poor's in New York City, moving on to Wall Street as a securities analyst and becoming a member of the New York Society of Securities Analysts. He returned to his roots in the Hudson Valley in 1973 working as a financial advisor for over 40 years.
Gary was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Newburgh serving as senior warden, member of the Vestry, the choir and Barnabas Men. He served as President of the Town of Newburgh Lions Club and was a member of the Powelton Club.
Gary was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his wife, Pat (Patricia Anne) and his sons, Jonathan P. Moulton and Jay B. Moulton; his brother, Edward C. Moulton Jr. of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY; his cousin, Robert Kastner of Clark, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Lee Moulton.
Gary will be deeply missed and remembered for his quiet strength, loyalty and wry sense of humor.
A memorial service will be held at St. George's Episcopal Church, 105 Grand St, Newburgh, NY on November 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., Reverend Wayne R. Schmidt officiating.
