Obituary

John F. Gardner (Jack) 86, passed peacefully into the presence of The Lord on Thursday, October 23, 2014.

He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on December 28, 1927 and was the son of Benjamin F. and Myra C. Gardner. Jack grew up in Claremont, New Hampshire before settling his life in the Hudson Valley. Jack proudly served his country during WWII with the United States Navy.

He met the "love of his life" Valerie J. Becker at Leptondale Bible Church and they started an amazing journey creating and raising their 5 Children.

Jack is survived by his adoring wife, Valerie Gardner; their 5 children: Cheryl Sykes, Kenneth Gardner, Deborah Murphy-Doherty, Charlene Schaper, John Gardner; sons and daughter in laws, Ray Sykes, Susan Gardner, Troy Doherty, Jeff Schaper. Beloved Grandchildren; Jennifer Major, Joel Gardner, Mckayla Murphy, Jack Schaper, Owen Schaper and Ryder Schaper. Great Grandchildren, Joshua Major and Jacob Major and many, many nieces and nephews and close friends.

He was a proud member of Local Union 825 where he spent over 40 years as an Operating Engineer. Jack and Valerie continued to serve faithfully together for over 40 years at Leptondale Bible Church in Newburgh, NY.

Jack was a man who walked the walk and talked the talk when it came to his convictions and his walk with The Lord.

He was passionate about spending time with his family and friends and was an avid fishermen and enjoyed spending time in his garden.

He will be greatly missed!!!!

The family will welcome guests Monday, October 27, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Leptondale Bible Church, 1771 Route 300, Newburgh, NY. Funeral service to follow visitation. Rev. Bruce Baker will officiate. Burial will be private Tuesday, October 28th at the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, NY.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Jack's memory to the Leptondale Bible Church (Mission Fund), 1771 Route 300, Newburgh, NY 12550.
