Anna R. Sarvis a lifetime resident of the area entered into eternal rest Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Elant Nursing Home in the Town of Newburgh. She was 101.
Daughter of the late John and Mary Gamma Kuprych, Anna was born November 20, 1913 in New Windsor.
Anna was a beloved family member and friend to many in the area. She was married to George M. Sarvis Sr. and together they raised their children in Newburgh. Anna loved to knit, sew, garden and create Ukrainian dishes popular to family and friends. Anna was a member of St. Mary's Church in Newburgh.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of the New Windsor Country Inn, and the staff of Elant at Meadow Hill for the compassion and care shown to Mom.
Anna is survived by her children: Ellen Lander and her husband, Ronald of Wallkill, NY, George M. Sarvis Jr. and his wife, Caroline of Newburgh, Stephen J. Sarvis and wife, Julia of Newburgh and William Sarvis and his wife, Nancy of New Windsor. She has twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Anna was predeceased by her husband, George M. Sarvis; son, Frederick Sarvis; daughter, Marion Sarvis Randall; sisters: Catherine Monaco, Stella Williams, Rose Rascewski; brothers, Michael, Nick, George, Metro, Stephen and John Kuprych.
Visitation for family and friends will take place Friday, January 2, 2015 from 3 to 6 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd., (Route 32), Town of Newburgh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. Mary's Church, 180 South Street, Newburgh. Father William Scafidi will officiate. Burial to following at Calvary Cemetery.
