Jeannette Stillwaggon of the Town of Newburgh, NY devoted wife and business partner of Stillwaggon's Printery went home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital. Jeannette's passing was peaceful after a long battle with cancer. She was 88 years old.
Jeannette was the daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys Legg Mackey. She was preceded in death by her brother, Leroy Mackey and by her sister, Virginia Evans.
Jeannette is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Donald Stillwaggon at home. They were married for over 65 years. She is also survived by her sister, Beatrice Carrick of Plattsburgh, NY and by several nieces and nephews.
Jeannette graduated from Wallkill High School. She was employed by the Singer Sewing Machine Co. as a bookkeeper, and later joined her husband at the Stillwaggon's Printery serving as a press operator, bookkeeper, and secretary.
Jeannette was a member of the Leptondale Bible Church. She along with her husband was previously very active in youth programs at the Gardnertown Methodist Church, and the Fostertown Methodist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher, and loved singing in the church choir. She sponsored many young people so they could attend Word of Life Bible Institute and camp programs. She was a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary. Jeannette was busy through the years with volunteer work at the Town of Newburgh American Legion Post 1420 Ladies Auxiliary, where she was a former treasurer, and did work in helping the veterans at Castle Point VA Hospital. Jeannette had a deep appreciation for our veterans and always participated in Memorial Day and Veteran Day services. She was also a life time member and former treasurer for the Mid-Hudson Graphic Arts Association.
Jeannette enjoyed traveling with her husband Donald, and they took many trips together. She loved the Lord, and her family.
Memorial visitation will be held Friday, February 20th from 5 to 7 p.m.at the Leptondale Bible Church, 1771 Route 300, Newburgh, NY. Funeral service will commence at 7 p.m. following the visitation. Rev. Bruce Baker will officiate. Burial of ashes will take place in the spring at the Orange County Veteran's Cemetery.
