Lawrence A. "Poppy" Diebner of the Town of Newburgh, a retired audit manager for Western Pacific Industries in NYC entered into rest Friday, October 30, 2015 at Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh. He was 89.
The son of the late Louis and Catherine Quinn Diebner, Lawrence was born August 10, 1926 in Mineola, NY.
Lawrence grew up in Brooklyn, with residences including Woodcliff Lake, NJ and Las Vegas, NV before moving to Newburgh in 2003. He proudly served his country from 1944 to 1946 in the US Navy.
Lawrence is survived by his former wife, Marjorie F. Diebner of Suffern, NY, children: Lawrence Diebner (Ruth) of Park Ridge, NJ, Thomas Diebner (Margarita) of Randolph, NJ, Kenneth Diebner of Bellevue, WA, Theresa Hubbard of Suffern, NY, Kathleen Jones (Richard) of Monroe and Alice Diebner of the Town of Newburgh; ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Carolyn Diebner and brother, Gerard Diebner.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at White & Venuto Home, 188 North Plank Rd. (Rte. 32), Newburgh. Funeral Mass will be offered 11 a.m., November 3rd at St Patrick's Church, 55 Grand Street, Newburgh. Burial to follow at the Orange County Veteran's Cemetery in Goshen.
