Jens Knitter of the Town of Newburgh, a senior employee and welder for Marjam Supply Co. in Newburgh passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 6, 2015 at home. He was 59 years old.
The son of the late Friedrich and Elfriede (Selke) Knitter, Jens was born August 1, 1956 in Bremerhaven, Germany and was a graduate of Monroe-Woodbury Senior High School.
Jens was a loving and dedicated father and stepfather. He always had a kind word and humorous manner to bring a smile to his friends and loved one's faces. He was a devoted husband, father and uncle and also a genuinely wonderful friend.
Survivors include his children: Christopher Knitter and Charles Thompson both of the Town of Newburgh, Andrea Thompson and Scott Thompson both of New Windsor; sister, Trudy Chambers and husband, David of Arizona, nephews; Scott Chambers, Todd Chambers, niece, Andrea Chambers-Hekler. In addition to his parents, Jens was predeceased by his wife, Stacia L. Knitter.
Memorial gathering will take place from Friday, December 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd., (Route 32) Newburgh, NY.
Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
