William (Bill) E. Thorn, Jr. entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, February 1, 2016. He was the beloved son of William Thorn, Sr. and Carol Bellis Thorn, and was born March 17, 1969, in Cornwall, NY.
Bill attended Liberty Baptist Church with his parents in Fishkill, NY, until he resided at Elant- Meadow Hill Nursing Home, Newburgh, NY, in 2011. His sweet, joyful spirit and love for people made him beloved by all who knew him. He will be remembered mostly for his love for Jesus Christ and the Word of God, but also for his desire to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to all he met, in order that they might be saved. In addition, his love for plants and the things of God's creation, his knowledge of botany and horticulture, and the desire to draw those things he loved, brought joy to his life and to others.
His passing into glory is bittersweet for we who remain. We rejoice with unspeakable joy for him, because we are sure he is in heaven, not by any works of his, but because on June 8, 1982, he repented of his sins, (all have sinned), and trusted what Jesus did for him, (and all), on the cross. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents, Bill and Carol Thorn, and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and second cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Ernest H. and Marie Moffett Thorn, his maternal grandparents, Warren H. and Marian King Bellis, by his uncle, James Thorn, and by his adoring aunt, Carole Ann Bellis.
We want to give special recognition and thanks to the nurses, aides, and staff at Elant, who were so loving and supportive during his last years. He, and we, love and thank you all.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 5th, at the White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Road, (Rte. 32), Newburgh, NY. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 6th, at the White & Venuto Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Totten officiating. Burial will be in the Cornwall Baptist Cemetery, Orr's Mills Road, Cornwall, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to the Liberty Baptist Church Missions Fund, P. O. Box 237, Fishkill, NY 12524.
