Mary Ruth Bateman, of the Town of Newburgh, a retired Research Librarian for Union Carbide in Tuxedo, NY entered into rest Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Montomery Nursing Home. She was 94.
The daughter of the late Richard J. and Helen (Burke) Bateman Sr., Mary Ruth was born November 13, 1921 in Troy, NY.
Mary Ruth proudly served her country in the United States Marine Corps from 1944-1946, did her undergraduate study at Russell Sage College in Troy, received a master's degree in Library Science at Syracuse University, was a member of the Shawangunk Kennel Club, Wallkill Kennel Club and attended the Church of Assumption in Maybrook.
Survivors include her nephews; Richard Bateman III and wife, Hester of Rutland, VT, Paul Bateman and wife, Elizabeth of Greenville, SC, Mary Lee Bennett of Nashville, TN, Patrick Bateman of Crozet, VA and lifelong best friend, Joan Perry of the Town of Newburgh, as well as three great nephews and one great niece, Sarah Bennett.
There will be no public visitation. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Interment will take place at a time convenient to the family at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy, NY.
