Chris Zoutis, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest Tuesday, January 24, 2017. He was 92.
The son of the late James and Artemis (Sidercanellis) Zoutis, he was born on December 1, 1924 in Washington, DC. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Adeline (Clegg)) Zoutis.
Mr. Zoutis was employed by DuPont and Stauffer Chemical Company and retired in 1990 from the Town of Newburgh where he worked in the Sewer Department. He served his country proudly during WW II in the U.S. Navy, his ship (the USS Biscayne) served in both the European and Pacific campaigns.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Adeline include two sons, Christopher (Mary) Zoutis of Walden and William (April) Zoutis of the Town of Newburgh; daughter-in-law, Helen Zoutis of the Town of Newburgh; grandsons, Zachary, Christopher, Thomas and Guy; granddaughters, Alexa, Sarah and Gabrielle.
He was predeceased by a son, George; brothers, George and Oreste (Jack); sisters, Ginny McCormack, Lollie Swanson and Thelma McCourt.
The family would especially like to thank the entire staff of the Montgomery Nursing Home for the loving care they gave to Mr. Zoutis. Their dedication will never be forgotten.
Memorial visitation will take place Friday, January 27th from 4 to 8 PM at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Road, Newburgh. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 am, Saturday, January 28, 2017, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 145 Benkard Avenue, Newburgh. Fr. Bill Damroth officiating. Burial of cremains will take place in Gardnertown Cemetery in spring 2017.
In lieu of flowers donations are asked to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at Stjude.org\memorial.
