Evelyn Anderson (Evie), 98 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 28, 2017;Evie was born October 16, 1918, the daughter of the late Clinton F. Harris and Ruth Klyne Harris. The wife of the late Gordon B. Anderson.

She had been an employee of Lake Mohonk Mountain House, served in the U.S. Navy as a Wave at Bethesda Naval Hospital and Chelsea Naval Hospital in Boston, during World War II, where she did physical therapy. She later was employed by the Newburgh School District as an Aide in Special Education.

She was a member of the Gardnertown United Methodist Church where she served on the communion committee. She was past President of the Ladies' Auxiliary of Newburgh Township Post # 1420 of the American Legion from which she traveled faithfully through the years to help as a volunteer at Castle Point Veterans
Hospital and had also been given a Life Membership in the P.T.A.

She is survived by a son James Anderson and wife, Cindy of Newburgh, daughters; Susan Anderson of East Hampton, MA and Janet Toth of Newburgh, and her Grandchildren; Joshua and Bethany Toth, Katrina Anderson and Michael and Averi Fegadel. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents Evie was predeceased by her husband; Gordon Anderson, twin sister, Bernice Harris, sister, Marguerite (Peg) McDermott; brother, Robert Harris; and son-in-law, Alan Toth.

The family extends many thanks to all of Mom's aides, Pam, Stephania, Ashantae, Joyce, Ruth, Stephanie and Shermore who kept mom happy and comfortable.

Visitation for family and friends will take place Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Rd. (Rte 32), Town of Newburgh.

Funeral service will commence 11 a.m. Friday, June 2nd at Gardnertown United Methodist Church, 1191Union Ave., Town of Newburgh. Burial will follow in Gardnertown Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Gardnertown United Methodist Church or the American Legion Post #1420.
