John M. Papo, of Wallkill, formerly of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest
on the morning of Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the age of 78.
Son of the late John J. and Teresa (Ireland) Papo, John was born on
January 22, 1940 in Beacon.
John was a retired carpenter with the Carpenter’s Union, Local #323,
Beacon, and was a life member of the Beacon Engine Company #1. He also
proudly served his country in the US Navy. Serving from 1957-1963 and
stationed primarily in Newport, RI.
Survivors include two sons, John Papo and his wife Nancy of Wallkill and
Alexander Papo and his fiancé Stacey Joubert of Bristol, RI, his former wife
of 22 years, Laura (Guarino) Papo of Wappingers Falls; one daughter Lisa
Papo-Long of Walden; one stepdaughter Shonda Foley of LaGrangeville;
one brother, Francis Papo of Lake George, two sisters Nancy Papo of
Beacon and Johanna Farber of Dover Plains; and four grandchildren,
Heather, Alisha, Jordan and Christopher.
Private cremation has taken place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
A private remembrance of John’s Life will take place at a future date
arranged by the family.
