William J. Pushman, of Vails Gate, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. He was 89.
Son of the late Albert and Josephine (Simanoski) Pushman, Sr., he was born in Walden, NY on May 29, 1929.
Bill was the retired co-owner and operator of Temple Hill Garage in Vails Gate.
He served in the United States Army with the 14th Transportation Battalion in Korea. He was awarded a battle star and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the Vails Gate Fire Company in the 1950’s and 1960’s and was one of the first volunteers of the New Windsor Ambulance Corps. Bill didn’t know what the words no and can’t be done were when it came to helping people or his community. He was an active parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church, the Holy Name Society of the Church, served on the school finance committee and was a bingo volunteer for many years. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #444 and a member of V.F.W. Post # 973.
Bill leaves behind his wife of 60 years Marion (Wassi) Pushman, three daughters Maryann (Michael) Jern of Corona, CA, Virginia (Silverio) Albano of New Windsor and Barbara (Tracy) Kaber of Hermosa Beach, CA; five grandchildren Ryan, Taylor and Maddie Jern, Nicholas and Anthony Albano.
Predeceasing him in addition to his parents was a son Steven Pushman and a brother Albert Pushman, Jr.
Visitation will take place on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 4 to 7pm at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Road (Rt. 32), Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10am, Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St Francis of Assisi Church, 145 Benkard Avenue, Newburgh. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. St. Francis Cemetery.
