Santiago Frias, of Newburgh, entered into eternal rest, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. He was 46.
Santiago was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on August 28, 1972.
Santiago was employed as a YDA4 Officer at the Goshen Secure Center. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army from 1998 to 2006, having served in Kosovo, Egypt and Iraq. He sustained battle injuries while serving in Iraq. He was awarded many ribbons and metals for his service including the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal. Santiago will be greatly missed by loved ones, family and friends.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Jose and Eneida Frias of Yonkers; his mother, Cristina DeJesus of the Bronx; his wife, Nejil A. Frias, at home; two sons, Ricardo Frias and Gabriel Frias, both of Newburgh; one daughter, Adriana Frias at home; his infant grandson Leon S. Frias; three brothers, Jose M. Frias of the Bronx; Victor DeJesus and Fiedel Frias both of FL; four sisters, Zoraida Quintana and Cristina Ali both of Newburgh, Lucitania Almanzar of PA and Jessica Frias of FL. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh, NY 12550. A Funeral Service will take place at the Funeral Home on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 10:00 am with Fr. Fernando Hernandaz officiating. Burial, with Military Honors will follow at St. Raymond's Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx, NY 10465.
